Best AI interview tools in India (2026): voice, video and phone-call bots compared
There is no single best AI interview tool in India; the right one depends on how your applicants can take the interview. As listed on 4 November 2026, Apna and Hunar.ai phone candidates with a voice bot, Inwizards takes voice answers from a link, Interviewer.AI, UnoJobs and Zappyhire use video, and Talview, HireVue and iMocha serve enterprises. Start from your applicants: the languages they speak, the phones they use and whether they will pick up a call or open a link.
Disclosure: this page is published by Inwizards, which makes one of the tools compared (Inwizards AI Voice Interviews). Competitor details are taken from each vendor’s own pages, as listed on 4 November 2026, except where we say a fact comes from launch coverage. Where a page does not say something, we write “not stated”. Vendors can ask us to correct an entry at info@inwizards.com.
Three kinds of AI interview tool
Most “AI interview” tools sold in India fall into one of three formats. The format decides who can take the interview and when, so pick it before you compare features.
1. The bot calls the candidate
An AI voice agent phones each applicant and runs the screening as a live call. Nothing to open or install, and any phone can take a call. The candidate has to answer at that moment, from a number they may not know. Examples: Apna AI Calling Agent, Hunar.ai.
2. The candidate answers by voice from a link
The applicant gets a private link by WhatsApp, SMS or email and answers by voice on their phone, whenever suits them. No call to catch and no camera. It needs a smartphone and some mobile data. Example: Inwizards AI Voice Interviews. Conversational AI interviewers such as Talview Ivy, HireVue, iMocha Tara and GoodSpace also take spoken answers, in a two-way conversation rather than set questions.
3. Video interview
The candidate records video answers (one-way) or talks to an on-screen AI avatar. Recruiters see and hear the person. It needs a camera, a quiet place and usually more data than audio. Examples: Interviewer.AI, UnoJobs, Zappyhire; Talview and HireVue also offer video.

Each tool in brief
Inwizards AI Voice Interviews
Candidates open a private link on their phone, pick one of 12 Indian languages, agree to a privacy notice and answer your questions by voice in about 15 minutes, with no app. Each answer is transcribed and scored against your rubric, and recruiters see the ranking, the recording, the transcript and the quotes from the candidate’s answer behind each score. Recruiters can override any score and make every decision. If the connection drops, recorded answers are kept and the candidate carries on. Data is hosted in India on AWS Mumbai. Pricing is on request, with a free trial on request. See AI Voice Interviews.
Apna AI Calling Agent
Part of Apna’s job platform: Apna’s help centre lists “Premium Job + AI Calling Agent” as a job type paid for with AI Job Posting Credits. Launch coverage says the agent starts voice interviews once a job is posted, works in Hindi, English and regional languages, scores answers, and follows up by calls, WhatsApp and email. Read Apna’s credits article.
Hunar.ai

Its hiring page says it screens applicants “in 20+ languages and dialects” and contacts each one by call or WhatsApp within minutes of applying. Read GoodSpace’s page.

Interviewer.AI
A Singapore-based async video interview platform with a newer voice-based AI avatar interview. It publishes self-serve plans in US dollars and a 14-day free trial; one credit covers one async video interview and a conversational AI interview uses two. Its help centre lists Hindi among 13 response languages and says scoring works best in English and major global languages. Read Interviewer.AI’s pricing.
Zappyhire Robotic Video Interview
An enterprise ATS from Kerala with video interviews, a recruiting chatbot and assessments. Its video feature page says the AI analyses body language and speech patterns; check how that fits your own fairness policy. Pricing is by quote. Read Zappyhire’s page.

Talview says Ivy is built for high-volume hiring in BPOs, ITeS and contact centres. Pricing is unit-based and by quote, with a typical minimum of about 150 to 200 candidates. Read Talview’s pricing FAQ.
HireVue AI Interviewer

How to choose an AI interview tool for volume hiring
Ask every vendor the same questions, including us, and get the answers in writing. For BPO, retail, banking, logistics and staffing roles, these matter most.
- The languages your applicants actually speak. Ask for the named list, not a count, and whether scoring works in each language or only the conversation. Ask how code-mixed answers (Hinglish, Tanglish) are handled. More on this in AI interviews in Indian languages.
- Mobile data and patchy connections. Many volume applicants are on prepaid mobile data. Audio uses less data than video, and a phone call uses none. Ask what happens if the connection drops halfway: is the interview lost, or does it resume?
- App, link or call. An app download is a drop-off point. A link needs a smartphone browser; a call needs the candidate to pick up. Match the format to your applicants’ phones and working hours.
- The evidence behind every score. Ask to see a real report. Can a recruiter read the transcript, play the recording and see which part of the answer earned the score? Avoid tools that give a number with no reason.
- Recruiter override. A recruiter should be able to shortlist, hold or reject with a reason, and change any AI score. Ask whether the AI ever rejects candidates on its own, and whether every decision is logged.
- DPDP consent and where data is stored. Ask how candidates see the consent notice and in which languages, how access and erasure requests are handled, how long recordings are kept, and in which country the data is hosted. Few vendor pages say.
- Pricing model: per interview or plan. Per-interview pricing suits hiring that comes in bursts; a monthly plan with a set number of interviews suits steady volume. Ask what counts as an interview (started, completed, or scored), and the total cost at your real monthly volume.
For a worked example of screening a BPO intake, see BPO bulk hiring with voice screening. Staffing agencies can also read AI voice agents for recruitment agencies.
When another tool fits better
Our tool is not the right fit for everyone. Based on what each vendor states:
- You need video, or coding tests. Our tool is voice-only. Talview Ivy runs voice, video and live coding in one interviewer, and iMocha pairs its Tara interviewer with skills assessments. Interviewer.AI, UnoJobs and Zappyhire offer video interviews.
- You want a bot to phone candidates. Our tool sends a link; it does not call. Apna’s AI Calling Agent works with jobs posted on Apna, and Hunar.ai calls or messages applicants on WhatsApp. If you want a calling agent built around your own process, Inwizards also builds custom AI voice agents.
- You want a published price today. Ours is not published yet. UnoJobs lists ₹500 per interview, and Interviewer.AI lists monthly plans in US dollars with a 14-day free trial.
- You hire across the US or EU under strict AI rules. HireVue documents fairness audits for NYC Local Law 144 and EEOC, candidate opt-out and adverse-impact testing.
- You want someone else to run the hiring. GoodSpace Hire360 is a managed service paid by success fee, and Vahan offers recruitment and staffing for blue-collar roles.
- You want one system for the whole hiring process. Zappyhire and UnoJobs include an ATS. Our tool exports results as CSV to your HR system.
If your applicants are spread across Indian languages and you want them to answer in their own time without an app, see how AI Voice Interviews works or book a demo below.
A note on the DPDP Act and AI screening
Voice and video interviews collect personal data, so the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and the DPDP Rules 2025 apply. The Rules were notified in November 2025 with an “eighteen-month period for phased compliance” (PIB backgrounder; Rules text, MeitY). Consent Manager rules apply after 12 months and most other obligations, including notice, security, breach notification and data-subject rights, after 18 months. In early 2026 MeitY consulted on shortening the timeline; we found no notified change as of 4 November 2026, so check the gazette for current dates.
- Roles. The employer is normally the Data Fiduciary; the interview vendor processes data on its behalf as a Data Processor.
- Notice. Consent needs a clear, stand-alone notice stating the purpose. The Act gives the Data Principal the option of the notice in English or any language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
- Requests and breaches. Publish a contact for data queries, handle access, correction and erasure requests, and tell affected people about a breach without delay.
- Penalties. Up to Rs 250 crore for failing to keep reasonable security safeguards, per PIB.
- Localisation. DPDP does not require data to be stored in India in general. Hosting in India is a choice some vendors make, not a legal requirement.
We found no India-specific law on AI in recruitment as of 4 November 2026; the India AI Governance Guidelines (MeitY, November 2025) are non-binding. This is general information, not legal advice. Whether DPDP’s employment “legitimate use” covers job applicants is a question for your counsel; asking for consent first is the safer default.
AI interview tools in India: FAQ
Several do, at different depths. As listed on 4 November 2026, Inwizards AI Voice Interviews names 12 languages (Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu and Assamese). GoodSpace says 100+ languages and names six Indian ones. Hunar.ai says 20+ languages and dialects, UnoJobs says English, Hindi and 8 regional languages, and Apna's launch coverage says Hindi, English and regional languages, without full lists. Talview, Interviewer.AI and iMocha name Hindi as their only Indian language.
It depends on how your applicants will take the interview. If you want a bot to phone every applicant, Apna's AI Calling Agent and Hunar.ai are built for that. If you want applicants to answer by voice from a link in their own time, Inwizards AI Voice Interviews does that in 12 Indian languages. Talview says its Ivy interviewer is built for high-volume hiring in BPOs, ITeS and contact centres, with voice, video and live coding.
An AI calling agent phones the candidate and runs the interview as a live call, so the candidate has to pick up at that moment. A voice interview by link sends the candidate a private link, usually by WhatsApp, SMS or email, and they record spoken answers on their phone whenever suits them. Calls need nothing but a phone; link interviews need a smartphone and a data connection but no call to answer.
Not for most tools in this comparison. Inwizards AI Voice Interviews runs in the phone's browser with no app, login or account, and HireVue says no app downloads are required. Apna and Hunar.ai reach candidates by phone call or WhatsApp. For GoodSpace, UnoJobs, Interviewer.AI, Zappyhire, Talview and iMocha, the pages we read do not say whether an app is required.
Few vendors publish prices. As listed on 4 November 2026, UnoJobs charges Rs 500 per interview and Interviewer.AI lists plans from US$199 a month for 50 interview credits, with a 14-day free trial. Apna uses AI job posting credits without a listed rupee price, Hunar.ai and GoodSpace let you start free, and Talview, HireVue, iMocha and Zappyhire quote on request. Inwizards pricing is on request, with a free trial on request.
We found no India-specific law on AI in recruitment as of 4 November 2026. Candidate interviews are personal data, so the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and the DPDP Rules 2025 apply, with most obligations phased in over up to 18 months from November 2025. The employer is normally the Data Fiduciary and the interview vendor its Data Processor. A clear consent notice, a contact for data requests and security safeguards are expected. Confirm your position with counsel.
Features and prices are as listed on each vendor’s own pages on 4 November 2026, except Apna’s languages and WhatsApp follow-ups, which are from launch coverage of the AI Calling Agent (August 2025). Pages change; check the current page before you buy. Sources for every entry are kept on file and available on request.
Apna, Hunar.ai, GoodSpace, UnoJobs, Interviewer.AI, Zappyhire, Talview, Ivy, HireVue, iMocha, Tara, Vahan and other names are trademarks of their respective owners. Inwizards is not affiliated with any of them.
